He warned of potential war profiteering, noted industry influence on policy, and outlined plans to curb prices while boosting domestic exploration. Three American physicians share the 1977 Nobel Prize for medicine for work on peptide hormones. Rosalyn Yalow of the Bronx Veterans Administration Hospital leads with half the prize, while Roger Guillemin of the Salk Institute San Diego and Andrew Schally of New Orleans VA hospital share the remainder. The award recognizes their radioimmunoassay method boosting hormone analysis and its impact on diabetes and growth disorders.
Harriet Linnell recounts her husband Lt Colonel George Eyster's death in Vietnam as AP photographer Horst Faas met the Viet Cong tunnel unit commander Capt Nguyen Thanh Linh. Linh described Cu Chi tunnels that extended 150 miles and influenced U.S. commands. Linh recalled intelligence on the killing. Eyster's widow says she bears no bitterness and laments Saigon's collapse in 1975.
