Seven tornadoes were reported as severe thunderstorms swept western and central Nebraska. Courthouse roof damaged in Arthur County while trees and windows suffered. towers, barns, garages and mobile homes also damaged. Hail and heavy rainfall noted near Ogallala North Platte Grand Island and other locations.
Thunderstorms produced more than 30 tornadoes in the Great Plains and most roads into Yellowstone National Park were closed by snow. Eight twisters hit the Texas Panhandle and four in Kansas and North Dakota. The Weather Service warned of heavy snow in northwestern Wyoming with four inches at lower elevations and six inches at higher elevations.
