Grain blast at Mississippi river elevator traps workers
A grain elevator explosion along the Mississippi River at Westwego Louisiana trapped workers in burning silos. Paroled Ponca inmate pursues doctorate after prison degrees
Jim Hurley, 29, earned a master’s degree in accounting at the University of Nebraska Lincoln while at State Penal Complex and will pursue a PhD as a regular student. The State Board of Parole granted release by a split vote after earlier refusals. Hurley, who killed his 17 year old classmate in 1966, had been on educational release to study.
