Gemini 6 7 Agena mission ends in failure at Cape Kennedy
The Agena failed to separate and ignite in time, delaying the Gemini 6 mission. Walter M. Schirra Jr. and Thomas P. Stafford faced an aborted launch with the Atlas booster lifting off on schedule, while the Agena reportedly could not be contacted and possibly plunged into the Atlantic. If trackers had succeeded, a later rendezvous and docking could have followed.
