Why shellac finish on bureau went cloudy and how to fix it
The cloudy finish results from moisture during application. Ensure wood is dry, room temperature at least 70F, windows closed if done on a damp day. To remove cloudiness lightly brush with denatured alcohol. If needed, recoat with shellac thinned 50 percent and apply when humidity is low. If alcohol removes more finish, just recoat.
