Duty of Woman and War News in New York

The piece blends verses from Gen George P Moris and a patriotic manifest in a New York war meeting. It cites Catholic Telegraph and New York Times notes on Mexican wealth, and includes parlor moral tales and anecdotes on manners, perseverance, and public virtue amid war.

Yankee Courage In Resaca dela Puma Charge Leads Lincoln Heroic Action

Lieut Lincoln, a descendant of Gen Lincoln and son of ex Massachusetts governor, led a bayonet charge through chaparral under heavy Mexican fire at Resaca dela Puma. He saved Lieut Jordan by deflecting a fatal bayonet thrust and broke the enemy with a sword blow to a skull, as he and his sergeant killed three more foes at the spot. Lincoln, a young officer of refined bearing and muscular strength, embodies the old block. Generals Taylor’s popularity among Mexicans is low. they deride him as a “mean Mexican tailor” despite his early ranks and charges.

A damaged OCR fragment yields limited details about a local notice or event. It mentions water, a method or itemized contents, and references to beef brine or park. The readable text is unclear, with no concrete names, dates, or places to confirm specifics.
