Incidents of the War and Odd Fragments of 1846
The piece recounts a civil war incident where General Taylor orders Capt May to seize a battery, resulting in its capture with General Vega as prisoner. It also features a quip about a boy smoking, a reflection on party virtue and character, and a social aside about drinking and manners in a dated voice.
