May 18 at 8 oclock Liberty High School conducts closing exercises at the Opera House. Processional by Elsie Mae Schrader, invocation, piano solo, junior girls chorus, junior girls quintet, address by Rev. I G Tisdale, presentation of diplomas, benediction. Admission is free.
A Sunday School convention of District No. 6 will meet at the Lutheran church Sunday afternoon May 2 at 2 30. Rev. Howard R. Kunkle will speak and Liberty churches provide music. Officers will be elected and installed by Rev. Taylor. Everyone is invited to attend.
Liberty wins the Class B county meet with 40 1 3 points at Quincy. Coatsburg places second and Loraine third. Rob ert Gates shines in running broad jump and shot put, nearly breaking the county record. Gates also wins pole vault, while Winger and McClintock of Liberty win the 440 and 880 yard dashes.
Mrs. Maud Lucas and her pupils presented a piano and vocal recital Sunday afternoon on Station WCAZ Carthage. Messages of congratulations from Liberty and nearby came in as the program drew praise from station officials who urged a future broadcast.
A community sale at the Ed Neece farm located at 48th and Broadway near Quincy will start at 11 00 A M on Tuesday May 23. The sale offers a sizable stock including 40 cattle with 12 full blood white face heifers plus steers heifers and milch cows 90 shoats 10 sows and pigs plus lumber and other articles. Floodwaters pushed over the boards of the Arntzen bridge as McKee Creek rose, washing over the crossing and prompting concerns over the structure's safety. No injuries reported.
A rural Illinois sentiment rises against a proposed statewide sales tax. The community greets the Supreme Court ruling striking the tax as a relief and urges rural and agricultural districts to organize protests. They call for resolutions to senators representatives and the Governor to oppose further taxation on country districts.

Delegations come from Timewell Kellerville Clayton Cisco Liberty and Plainville with several conversions reported. Meetings run nightly through the week ending Sunday with morning afternoon and evening services and a fellowship lunch. The group has held about twenty Illinois meetings in two years producing over 1500 conversions and will depart Monday for summer work in California.
