James A Wells born near Liberty October 6 1866 died at St Vincent Home Sunday midnight. He married Margaret Nations in 1892 and worked in threshing and wood sawing before operating a restaurant in Kerry and later Quincy. Survived by two sons J R Wells and Hugh B Wells a daughter Mrs J P Beaumont a brother a sister and grandchildren. Funeral at Liberty Brethren Church burial Liberty cemetery with Rev Henry Lose officiating.
A wedding supper Tuesday evening at the J W Patz home celebrated Mr and Mrs Philip Balzer with blue and white streamers bells and pink rose centerpiece. Guests included Mary Balzer Vesta Drebes Oscar Simon Dariene Neece J E Kline and Joan Carroll. The Balzers now reside on Balker farm east of Liberty. Rain fell Monday and Tuesday. A Liberty sale of Mrs Mary Lierly last Thursday was successful. The Liberty community sale planned for Tuesday was postponed.
The Liberty Minstrel cast entertained Beverly residents on a Friday evening at the Methodist church as part of the monthly Brotherhood meeting. The packed program featured readings by Leonard Diker, performances by the Beverly orchestra, and refreshments for guests.
