James A. Wells longtime thresherman and later Liberty restaurant and pool room proprietor died at St. Vincent's home around midnight Sunday. Survived by two sons Zare and Hugh and a daughter Mary.
Wednesday morning brought a tax bill shock to Liberty residents with personal tax rising sharply while real estate tax stayed near last year. A table compares 1932 and 1933 rates showing Liberty school district taxes at $2.82, with complaints that increases come from valuation or other causes and a call to protest if valuations seem unjust.

The couple’s attendants were Testa Drebes of Paloma and Oscar Simon of Liberty. The bride wore light blue crepe and pink roses. the groom in dark blue. A post ceremony motor trip followed. A wedding supper is planned at the bride’s parents home Tuesday at 6. They will reside on the groom’s mother Mary Balzer’s farm east of Liberty. Both families are well respected in Liberty.
The L H 8 Club held its annual baseball party at Velma Vollmer's home on February 21 after a home game against the losing team. The evening included jigsaw puzzles and banco with refreshments served. attendees included Velma Vollmer and many club members.
Liberty residents complained of radio interference in the central town area. A CIPS service man traced the issue to the telephone office ringer. A prior interference solution failed. directors promised action, but it may have been forgotten. Radio owners on Maio Street seek a noninterfering ringer now available on the market.
