Route 105 and CWA News Update on Liberty projects

An official from the state highway department toured Liberty and reported residents favor Route 105 once finished but worried about the unfinished section due to Pike County right of way issues. CWA work northeast of Liberty gains 28 local hires under Lee Syrcle with more projects projected totaling about 15 000 in value and potential employment for 100 men.

Install Officers At Eastern Star And Mason Lodge

The Eastern Star chapter and Mason lodge held their annual installations Thursday at the Masonic hall. Officers installed included Worthy matron Lottie Kulisch and W. M. Walter L. Wilkey, followed by an oyster supper and festive gift exchange with Santa Claus.

Local banks to operate under new NRA code

After January 1 the state banks must follow the NRA code with rules on checking accounts and banking practices. Citizens seeking the Government corn loan of 45 cents per bushel can obtain information and process it through Liberty bank.

Obituary of Mrs. Sarah V. Kapp of Liberty Payson

Mrs. Sarah V. Kapp died at her daughter’s home in Liberty on December 19 after several years illness. Born September 21 1850 in Wheeling West Virginia she lived in Hannibal Laverton Payson Quincy and Liberty. She leaves two daughters Mrs. C C Carr of Omaha and Mrs W A Robinson and a son Frank H Kapp with eight grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at Frey and Son Funeral Home and Lipincott Chapel at the Soldiers Home with burial in Sunset Cemetery.

Mrs. E. B McBride Dies in Liberty

Mrs. E B McBride died Friday morning at her Liberty home. Born September 11 1859 at Mt Sterling she was the daughter of Chris Bidle. She married E B McBride June 24 1880 at Quincy and lived on a farm near Liberty until moving there four years ago. She leaves her husband a brother John Bidle of Quincy a half sister Mrs Ida Moody of Memphis Tenn and a sister Mrs Amon Conger of Quincy. Funeral services were Sunday at 1 p m in the Lutheran church with Rev H R Kunkle officiating and interment at Franks cemetery conducted by the Liberty OES.
