St. Brigid Picnic Draws Record Liberty Crowd
One of Liberty’s largest crowds attended the St. Brigid picnic in the park on Wednesday with an estimated 7000 present in the late afternoon and evening. Over 700 were served supper as the Liberty band played and the Midnight Serenaders danced. receipts approached 1300 dollars and Justin Wagg of Payson spoke for the Taxpayers League.

Business Men Meet Liberty Association August Session
The Liberty Business Men's Assn held its August meeting in the park on Thursday evening. Reports indicate Camp Point and northern towns will stay open on Wednesday evenings. Elmo Pond was named to discuss with southern towns as Liberty affiliates in the NRA code. The group previously fought to keep Wednesday hours but was overruled. The remainder planned an inter community chautauqua.

First Night Liberty Band Opens Chautauqua Despite Rain
The Liberty band faced wet weather as they opened the chautauqua and resolved the wet dry question and baptism forms matter. Jesse E. Kline explained the chautauqua purpose while W. A. Robinson traced Liberty band history and Father Scanlan gave the welcome. Rev. Kunkle spoke on the value of inter community gatherings with good attendance despite the rain.
