Washburn Freshmen host Wentworth on Friday night at 8 for the final home game. Wentworth youth shows growing form and spirit, a tough opponent. The Cadets are expected to be outmanned but energized, with Washburn likely heavier and seeking a strong finish.
Mrs Clarice H Barnett widow of Joseph R Barnett died Sunday at 4 pm at 401 Washington Ave after a two week pneumonia illness. Born October 7 1847 in Lafayette county near Prairie church she was 69. Survived by one brother M N Grant of Laramie WY. Funeral Tuesday at 10 am from the Presbyterian church conducted by Rev N H McCain of Lees Summit.
Sunday morning around 1 o clock city officers Mavel and Seitz raided a lively crap game at Walter Mason's home on North Tenth Street. Fifteen players were arrested, others fled through windows with sash removal. All fifteen pleaded guilty and were fined one dollar plus costs.
A large circle of friends gathered as Thomas Layton Barnett and Annie Wood Eggleston, both of the city, wed at four o'clock Wednesday in the Presbyterian church. The ceremony featured musical selections, ushered by relatives, with the bride wearing white satin and a lace bertha from her grandmother’s dress. The couple departed for an unknown honeymoon destination at seven o'clock. Wentworth built an early 7 point lead and held it to the break but the Indians surged in the second half scoring two touchdowns yet failing on conversion. Wentworth added a second touchdown and a successful kick to finish 14 13.

Mrs Robert Wilson traveled to Kansas City Sunday for the funeral of her nephew Lieut Luther Welsh United States Navy who was killed last Wednesday at Indian Head Maryland by the premature explosion of an aerial bomb during a test 1000 feet above the Potomac river with another officer witnessing the event.
Mrs Samudel P Goodwin, patient at Bethany hospital Kansasity for about eight weeks with three operations, has returned home much improved. Friends of Mr and Mrs Goodwin are hopeful her most recent operation will bring complete restoration of health.
The Navy Department reports three of five American dreadnoughts near launching: New Mexico Mississippi Idaho. Tennessee California begin, with nine destroyers and twenty-nine submarines also under construction. Three battleships and three destroyers are built in navy yards. the armored cruiser edict to be renamed Frederick. Maryland to name one battleship.
The Agricultural Extension Service at the College of Agriculture in Columbia Missouri offers a free mailed list of books magazines and bulletins on home economics including household management foods clothing textiles home sanitation care of the sick and invalid cookery. The aim is to help homemakers plan winter reading when leisure is scarce.
Audience grows at revival service as Dr. Frank delivers a sermon titled Two Fundamental Facts About Sin. He highlights Be sure your sin will find you out and He hath not dealt with us after our sins. Singing is excellent and members from other churches assist the chorus. Tonight’s subject is The Forgiveness of Sin.
Joe Wiley travelled to Kansas City on business yesterday. Mrs. Worth Bates visited Lincoln Missouri to see her parents Mr. and Mrs. Fred Brill. Dorothy Houston returned home to Malta Bend after visiting Central College friends. Lucille Reagan arrived Tuesday for Barnett Eggleston wedding then departed to Macon Missouri. Mr and Mrs T A Shelton of Eastern Virginia were guests of Mr Shelton's brother.

At a Moberly gathering Missouri hotelmen pledge to raise daily rates from 2.00 and 2.50 to 3.00 dollars to offset rising costs. D C Morris, prominent local proprietor, among those supporting the change. The Missouri Kansas Oklahoma Hotelmen's Association will meet in Kansas City at the Muehlebach Hotel next Monday and Tuesday.
Captain Alexander A. Lesueur, owner of a ranch near Burbank, accompanied by two daughters, called on the Review. A veteran of the Civil War and former Missouri secretary of state, he once edited the Intelligencer at Lexington and was renowned as a leading editorial writer. He supports President Wilson and hopes for his reelection.
