Democrats lose sheriff with all other Lafayette County offices elected in a volatile election. Unofficial tallies show 8050 votes countywide, vs 7355 in 1912 governor race and 6801 in 1914 senate race, with Mrs. Kerbrat named representative for Senators North America and contact details provided.
J C Stapleton and We B Douglass traveled to Kansas City to escort home the body of 22 year old Frank Odell who died Sunday night from injuries suffered in the Valley mine two weeks earlier. He was the son of Mr and Mrs Thomas Odell and husband of Bessie Stapleton. He leaves a brother Harry and three sisters. The funeral was held Tuesday at 2 PM at the Valley mine home.
Miss Dora Peacock returns to Higginsville Thursday after visiting friends in this city. She accompanied by Miss Roberta Landrum of Waverly who had been visiting friends here and then led Miss Peacock home for a visit.
Wentworth beats Missouri Military Academy 85 to 3 at Wentworth field with a strong first half 21 points and 14 in the second. Mexico’s defense held early but Wentworth’s offense wore them down despite injuries and penalties. Referee Pierson and umpires from Nebraska and Dartmouth credited the decision as Wentworth’s overpowering win.
