Wentworth Academy Holds 38th Commencement Celebrations
The Wentworth Academy marked its thirty-eighth commencement with strong attendance and growing military and athletic activity. Highlights included a week of drill and reviews, a sermon by Evans of William Jewell College, the annual ball, and Thursday's graduation exercises led by Dr. W. S. Abernethy with medals and honors awarded to Harrison Newcombe Moore etc. The year ends with a six foot class memorial clock and a strong Red Cross report.

Eastham Injured In Train Collision At Little Sun Crossing
E. L. Eastham, driving the Indian Tea Company wagon, was seriously hurt Tuesday evening when his rig was struck by a freight train at the Little Sun crossing. He suffered head and body bruises, the wagon was wrecked, and one horse was injured. He was taken to his home on North 16th Street after care at Myrick and Dr. Ryland treated him there.

103 Lafayette county rural graduates received diplomas at Higginsville on Saturday with H T Phillips county superintendent presenting the diplomas. J Kelly Wright of Columbia delivered a war talk at the Rex Theatre. Morning exercises featured Higginsville High pupils. A luncheon of sandwiches and treats followed on the school lawn, funded by local merchants and women volunteers.
