New amusement entrepreneur Campbell last week opened Campbell's Amusement Hall in the Field building on Franklin Avenue, converting the former skating rink and basketball space into a theatre with a three-scene stage, folding seating, and a satire film project. Presentations start next Monday at 2:30 PM and 8:00 PM, aimed especially at women and children.

Death of Mrs Elizabeth Eckle in Mayview area
Mrs Elizabeth Eckle died Saturday at 8 pm at the home of her daughter in Mayview after a year of poor health and recent gastro neuralgic trouble. Born July 6, 1839 in Lexington, she was married to Jacob R. Eckle and survived by six children including Dr. W. R. Eckle and Louis G. Eckle plus two daughters Mrs C A Nickell and Mrs P L Tapp. A longtime member of the Mayview Methodist Church, she died with family present. The funeral services were held at the home of Louis G. Eckle and burial was in Machpelah cemetery.

Boy Killed in Car Crash at Myrick Yard
Chesley Bray Jr., fourteen, son of Chesley Bray, was run over by goal cars at Myrick near Third Street Thursday at about eight in the morning and instantly killed. He was believed to be attempting to climb on cars en route to the yards. The body lay at the scene until the coroner arrived.

Henry Shoemaker aged 48 died at home in Power on May 4 after a rock fall at Davis coal mines earlier in February. He was twice married, survived by his first wife Georgia Fragier and a daughter Edith, and by his second wife Anna Phelps and seven children.
