A telegram reports the death of John M Price in St Louis on Friday from apoplexy. A former Lexington city attorney and county justice of the peace aged about 65, he lived in Lexington many years before moving to St Louis three years ago. Survived by three sons Lindsay Jackson and John M all of St Louis. Body brought to Lexington Monday and buried from the train.

Passing of Ben Lovell on Bloom Street
A man named Ben Lovell collapsed on Bloom Street near the Hillock residence at about nine Saturday morning and died shortly after. He was 74, living at 24th and Franklin, and survived by his wife and a niece.

Sheriff Raids Poker Game In McGrew Mine Neighborhood
Deputy John Toner narrowly escaped a shooting during a Sunday raid on seven men gambling at a shack near Simpson Spring operated by Otto Mittie. Mittie fired at Toner but was restrained. all pleaded guilty to gambling, fined 25 dollars each, with Mittie also charged 200 dollars for running a gambling place and bound over to April grand jury for alleged attempted officer killing.

William E Elliot died at his Higginsville home last Friday from heart disease. Born June 5, 1859 in Boyce Virginia, he married Belle Kinchloe of Mayview in 1887. Fire destroyed the residence of Mrs Aliie Bougher located 114 miles south of Lexington on Wednesday around 8 o clock. Most out buildings were ruined though some furniture was saved. Insurance covers the loss estimated at 6000 dollars. The blaze was caused by a defective flue.
