Democratic Convention Delegates Elect In Lafayette County
Lafayette County Democrats met in Higginsville to elect delegates for the Missouri state convention at St Joseph on March 21. James P. Chinn chaired. Lee Shippey was secretary. Resolutions endorsed Wilson and Major, praised Missouri’s Democratic team, and named Stone Reed Berry as delegates at large and from the district. Resolutions also supported Brandeis for Supreme Court and Baker as Secretary of War.

The tenant was away and the blaze gained headway before the fire company could save it. the house and contents were a total loss.

Drunken stepfather shot in self defense case
Monday night Frank Fosse of Red Bug Hill threatened his wife and stepson Lucian Haugherty. The stepson armed with a revolver shot Fosse below the heart as the latter ranted. Fosse died Tuesday morning. Coroner and jury ruled death a gunshot wound by Haugherty and urged no prosecution, though prosecutor plans to file second degree murder charges.

Young Man Charged With Stealing From Roommate
Charley Brock about eighteen was arrested by Officer John Pollard for stealing $18 from Jerry Holman in the Gem building. Brock later spent the money, loaned two dollars, and left $11 at Owl Drug Store. He had $4.02 when arrested. funds were restored. He claimed debts and unemployment. Preliminary hearing set. bond $300 signed by his mother. released.
