Lexington City Council Proceedings Report

The Lexington city council met in regular session with all members present and approved the previous minutes. They allowed January bills including 605.49 to Lexington Gas & Electric Co. and ordered legal notices for sidewalk removal near Wedge property. An ordinance widened Tenth Street and planned paving with vitrified brick. voting places and judges were set for the April city election. Fire wards were appointed and fire hose and ladders were ordered by April 15. Local notices list residents visiting Lexington and surrounding towns, with social and business movements including stores and homes. The modern Woodmen announced a supper, and multiple residents traveled for work, sale, or visit. Rev Henshaw’s first year with the Christians church nears completion.

Murder charge and local notices blend of names

Constable Furichmond arrives with officers to take Shmond in for murder charges. Sister-in-law details and various local movements appear, including Moorehead back from Jefferson and Payne’s Oklahoma trip. Hinesley Buys Out Kret in Ice Cream Shop Sale

W J Hinesley took possession of the confectionery store after paying Carl Kret, refocusing the business on ice cream and candy. Pamphlet gifts detail Missouri slavery and Masonic history

The Lexington Historical Society receives pamphlets from J. T. Marighan spanning pro slavery convention proceedings from 1865, James Shannon speeches, Masonic college history, and a 1851 commencement address by F. B. Shaver. Unplanned Wed­nesday Marriage Ties Hackler and Kelley

Charles Hackler and Lily Kelley married by Rev. R B Binney at the Christian church parsonage after a brief private announcement. Kelley is Lod Kelley’s daughter from Lexington. Hackler, son of Peter Hackler, plans to live with his father east of Lexington after the ceremony.

Pearle Moore Weds Redin Fulkerson in Kansas City

Miss Pearle H. Moore of Mayview Missouri and Mr Redin V. Fulkerson of Odessa were married at Rev Donaldeon's home in Kansas City on March 4 108 The bride wore a brown traveling suit and matching accessories The groom appeared in a black suit They are well known locally with Pearle described as a pioneer Lafayette County daughter and both families noted for their standing After the ceremony the couple planned to reside in Odessa Other local notes include Annie Holpton's return from Independence and Mrs B N Wilson with daughters Elisabeth and Theresa departing for War.

Recital at Methodist church by Miss Elizabeth Graves crowd praises

Pupils of Miss Elizabeth Graves offered a lengthy recital Sunday evening in the Methodist church Sunday school room. The decor was tasteful and the audience mostly composed of friends and relatives. The program listed multiple solos duets trios and violin selections by students including Eva Stultz Maude Shinn Elise Ellis Laura Shull and Aubrey Davis among others with titles like Night Song Water Sprites Tarentelle and Gretchen Serenade end with several piano solos and a piano trio.

County Court Handles Drainage Bonds and Appointments

The county court spent most of Wednesday on drainage district bonds in the matter of F W Brand et al sold to Farmers Bank of Concordia. TH Talley was appointed overseer for District 40 for one year, J W Bryant resigning. The court ordered sheriff to purchase and ticket to Hot Springs for the invalid P Thorpe. County Recorder H W McNeel ordered relief from duties, and records to be rebound by J G Gough of Kansas City with more books issued.

Thomas Taubman Dead Native of Wales and Kentucky miller

Thomas H Taubman a native of Wales and longtime Lexington miller died at his College street home after years of invalidism. Born March 21 1827 he came to the United States in 1849 and settled in Kentucky where he ran the Dover Flour mill with his brothers. He suffered a fall in 1857 that left him partially paralyzed and an invalid for many years. Survived by one son John Taubman and his wife Jane Kelly of Laxey Isle of Man. funeral held Friday at noon from his home.
