Lexington High Triumphs Over Columbia In Big Match
The Lexington High School quintette defeated Columbia High 40 to 23 in a competitive game billed as the season’s biggest. Lexington led 19 to 14 at intermission and pulled away in the second half with key plays from Larberg Lundberg Cross Welch and Gillespie. The team heads to Warrensburg for a state normal district tournament next Friday and Saturday as Lafayette county champions. In prelims, the Seniors beat the Freshies 16 to 8. The city council met with Mayor Minor, approving gardening landuse for William Hagwood, reporting February finance, and authorizing a street repair inquiry and a street fair permit from the Miners Union. The Missouri Gas and Electric bill for February, $822.98, was approved. Council set to meet again March 16.

Death of Leonard Taney at Red Bug Hill at 66
Leonard Taney of Red Bug Hill died Saturday at 6 30 PM from blood poisoning. A Swiss-born 66 year old, he is survived by three daughters and two sons. Funeral services were held Monday at 2 PM at the home with Rev. J Bierbaum officiating.
