Dorado Kansas June 20 A long early testimony phase in Jessie Morrison murder trial shows the state pressing on self defense questions while the defense seeks to limit evidence about Morrison s emotions and the blood stained dress worn the day of Olin Castle s death. Judge Aikman excludes some emotional testimony and allows cross examination to probe Morrison s access to disputed clothing pieces from the scene. The jurors observe Morrison’s tears but keep focus on the injuries described by her father and on whether motive or fear influenced the fatal attack on Clara Castle.

A Chicago and Alton freight engine No 332 exploded west of Blue Cat two and a half miles east of Independence at about 12 45 Thursday morning. Engineer George L Gerew was killed and fireman Willis Crowley gravely injured. The 15 car train was en route to Reaves City from States and had just passed Blue Cat. Wreckage scattered across the embankment sent rails bending and ties splintered. Conductor McAene led the damaged train. Gerew, of Sister, Missouri, leaving a widowed mother and sister. Crowley taken to St Josephs hospital with serious injuries.
A fire at the J. B. Sickles Saddlery on Twenty first and Washington avenue in St. Louis caused nearly 290000 dollars in damage. The loss falls on J. B. Sickles Saddlery T. F. Reynolds Carriage Tambert Pharmacy and other smaller businesses.
