The Vedal meet held on June 7 on the Academy campus featured Becker and Weis as standout performers. Becker won the high and long events, while Weis dominated the running races. the High School edged a close relay victory as Bardette and others delivered strong showings. A large crowd witnessed a brisk, well run event under orderly conditions.

Lexington Gun Club to Host Amateur Pigeon Shoot
The Lexing ton Gun Club will host a big amateur pigeon shooting meet for Missouri and Kansas shooters on July S and 9. Noted experts from Kansas City and nearby areas are expected to attend. The Schmelzer Trophy silver loving cup, from Schmelzer Arms Company, will be contested. A vase hand painted by Hunter Arms Company of New York and a display piece from A. R. Homer will be among prizes. The season’s best average shooter will win the Lexington Gun Club trophy.

Decoration Day Parade Among Lexington Lodges
Four Lexington lodges held a Sunday decoration day with a downtown parade to Machpelah Cemetery. The procession included Bell's Concert Band Red Men Modern Woodmen Odd Fellows and Knights of Pythos. At the cemetery Dr Pattillo spoke as master of ceremonies Hon John Welborn gave the address and the band played Nearer My God to Thee. Members decorated graves and Henry Sinager departed for Karlsruhe Germany for the summer, with Gus Weber to manage the store in his absence.

Burglary at Western Coal Company Office
Saturday night thieves broke into the Western Coal Company office vault and safe, entering via a backdoor transom. They damaged the inner vault door, opened the outer ante vault, and stole money believed to total between 20 and 30 dollars, plus notes of the clerk and company, with tools abandoned on the vault floor. Theodore Bates alerted manager Louis Petsch, and authorities began investigating the break in as pay day approached.

State court acquits Moody in license selling case
In a busy Criminal Court session State vs H J Moody ended with acquittal on charges of selling goods without a license. Other cases included plea deals on liquor charges, a not guilty plea in a bank depositor case, and trials set for June 14 and 15. Parolees and a discharged parolee were noted among routine docket actions. A jury acquitted Mritz Kirchell of common assault. Separately Lexington Water Company shareholders were convened on August 14, 1907 to discuss bond issues and trust deeds for a first mortgage issue of six percent gold bonds.

Ernest A. Nagel died in Howe Texas on Wednesday morning June 12 from tuberculosis of the throat. He was 79 years 10 months old. He leaves a wife and one child, a mother Mrs Louis Nagel, sisters Misses Minow Carrie and Edna of Lexington, two brothers J Nagel of Butte Montana and R WH Nagel of Howe. Burial was in Hall cemetery at Howe. He had been ill two years but not bedbound until the last month. He belonged to the Methodist church.

Viola Jackson and Dr Moore wed at Corder in lavish ceremony
The Jacksons hosted a high noon wedding for their daughter Viola to Dr EB Moore at the home of Mr and Mrs D G Jackson in Corder. About 100 guests attended the floral colored event with bridesmaid Mina Groves and best man Gordon Jackson. After a four course luncheon the couple left for Kansas City and will reside in Corder within two weeks.
