In court Monday Thomas Gray and William Neer pled guilty to gambling, each fined 25 plus costs. Ligon Vaughan pled guilty to permitting gambling on premises, 25 plus costs. John Piper pled guilty to common assault, fined 1 and costs. Grant Caves fined 100 and costs. Basil Blue and Glass McDonald each got two year penitentiaries for grand larceny. Henry Barker two years for manslaughter. Sheriff Waddell and Policeman Pollard took them to Jefferson City. Judge Rich adjourned court until July 6. Brown of La Veta and Miss Bula M. Abbott married at bride’s home. They will live on a ranch near La Veta after visiting relatives in Pleasant Hill.

Gov Elliott W Major spoke at Central College commencement on Wednesday morning and hosted a luncheon reception at Traders Bank. He then toured rock roads near Lexington before heading to the capitol, touting road improvements and opportunities. Invitations arrive for United States Military Academy at West Point commencement on June 12 1914. Ben Hoge, son of Col and Mrs Hoge, graduates with his class. William Hoge will have two years completed by June and receives a three month furlough. Both sons plan to spend the summer here, arriving about June 15.

Supreme Court Reverses and Remands Texis v Tevis Case

Barker Found Guilty of Manslaughter in Fourth Degree

Small Blaze at Crawford’s Laundry Damages Insurance Covers Loss
A fire discovered Tuesday night at about 10 oclock in the front of Crawford’s Laundry was quickly put out by the fire company. Investigators suspect a spark from an electric fan started the blaze. Damage is small and fully insured.

Tuesday morning a telegram announced the death of Joe W. Homer in Ventura California. He was about 54 years old. He is survived by his wife who is Julius Winkler's sister and two sons. Two brothers survive, A R of this city and Emil of St. Louis.

Burglars Caught After St Louis Arrest
Deputy Sheriff William Tutt arrived Friday from St Louis with James Orr in custody charged with robbing the M Ladeson store months ago. Orr was captured in St Louis days ago carrying merchandise bearing the Ladeson trademark.
