Wreck at Fifteenth Street Crossing Injures Wellington Men
A car carrying Judge John F. Larkin and Emmett Burgess, with driver Henry Carter, collided with a train at the Fifteenth Street crossing on the Kansas City return from a Good Roads meeting. Carter and Burgess were seriously injured, Larkin bruised but not in danger. They were treated at a police station before being taken home. Also noted: Deputy sheriffs arrested T. T. Dean for selling whiskey without a license. Phillip B. Marshall, longtime local resident and former rural carrier, died at his home after a brief illness. He served as the United States’ second rural carrier, born near Lexington February 26, 1866, and survived by wife Marie Cass, son Clovis, and several siblings. Funeral held at the Methodist Church with Rev. Allen, Hall, and Myers officiating.

Greys Lose to Sedalia Cubs in 8-1 Defeat
About 175 baseball fans rode the Greys Special to Sedalia Sunday morning to see the Sedalia Cubs versus the Lexington Greys. The Greys fell 8 to 1 with the Cubs scoring in the 2nd and 3rd, then 8th innings while the Greys managed a lone run in the 7th.

Elks of Lexington Missouri staged a rainless summer frolic featuring a long baseball game among members and guests. Albert Gillen impressed with flawless play. Concordia band led a parade to the field. evening festivities at the Elks Club included music, dancing, ice treats, and a wedding party visit from Missouri guests. Two barns burned that night, Rev Otto Schultz's barn and Wesley Kroeck's, with loss of valuables and an insured car.

Lafayette County Club Organized for Summer School
Warrensburg Missouri July 12 1915 to the Lexington Intelligencer Lafayette County teachers met Tuesday June 22 at three oclock and organized a Lafayette County Club. Fifty eight Normal students enrolled from the county with twenty two from Lexington. Despite most buildings burned in March nearly twelve hundred students from across the state are enrolled. Classes meet in churches public schools and residences within four blocks. A short physical culture course is added and all students participate. The club plans a picnic at former superintendent C Phillips home. W T Tutt went to Marshal on business.
