Wentworth Military Academy Draws From Eighteen States

Died at Kerrville Texas on Sunday July 1 Mrs Jemima Hobbs Griffith Bates wife of Dr George W Bates of this city aged ca. woman born November 1 1565 in Henry county Missouri She joined the Methodist church early and lived a virtuous life She leaves six children Theodore Lessie Hubert Margaret Barrett and Griffith with husband The body was buried at Bates City Services conducted by Dr J C Given The family moved from Kentucky to Lexington five years ago health failed after moving to Texas for climate The death came Sunday A later notice: Died near Mayhew July 8 Mrs Janes W Phievar sister of Mrs Frank Thornton She leaves a husband and two sons John T and Samuel A Buried at Bimwood cemetery Also: Died two if Lexington July 5 Nahor Moses daughter of Josaph Moses to be buried Friday at ten o'clock am from the Catholic church Father John and Father Copella will conduct services. IN MEMORY OF THE HERO PULASKI A brilliant speech by Hon Abraham L Brick from Indiana delivered June 26 in the house of representatives praised Count Casimir Pulaski noting his sacrifice for liberty and the republic. The oration extols Pulaski as a founder of modern thought and Poland’s liberty hero. It contrasts Poland’s fall with the rise of a new realm through intellect and patriotism and venerates the Poles Mickiewicz Krasinski Slowocki Kosciuszko and Pulaski as enduring symbols of exile and national pride.

John R Dating Dies in Kansas City at 65

John R Dating aged about 65 died at his home at Fifweath and Wynedotye streets Kansas City on Sunday morning. The funeral was held Tuesday at 10 from the rear of Mr John Hraking at Seventeenth and Mola streets conducted by Rev J C Grewn. He was born near Charleston West Virginia and served as a Confederate soldier. He worked as a traveling agent for the Aste Sadite Tree company and later invested in mines in Oral Colorado and Avix was where he made a fortune. He had quiet stake in cattle business in New Mexico. He had lived in this city for a couple of years and was respected by all.
