IN MEMORY OF THE HERO PULASKI A brilliant speech by Hon Abraham L Brick from Indiana delivered June 26 in the house of representatives praised Count Casimir Pulaski noting his sacrifice for liberty and the republic. The oration extols Pulaski as a founder of modern thought and Poland’s liberty hero. It contrasts Poland’s fall with the rise of a new realm through intellect and patriotism and venerates the Poles Mickiewicz Krasinski Slowocki Kosciuszko and Pulaski as enduring symbols of exile and national pride.
A Lexington gathering sought a modern Missouri Pacific depot at the foot of Third Street and voted against buying Reid land without a depot promise. Residents split on Wellington road route, while merchants eyed a business college bonus. County court and merchants' committee planned a road trip to assess conditions and push for improvements.
John R Dating aged about 65 died at his home at Fifweath and Wynedotye streets Kansas City on Sunday morning. The funeral was held Tuesday at 10 from the rear of Mr John Hraking at Seventeenth and Mola streets conducted by Rev J C Grewn. He was born near Charleston West Virginia and served as a Confederate soldier. He worked as a traveling agent for the Aste Sadite Tree company and later invested in mines in Oral Colorado and Avix was where he made a fortune. He had quiet stake in cattle business in New Mexico. He had lived in this city for a couple of years and was respected by all.
