Miss Mary Ball died yesterday morning at 5 15 at 1409 Main Street after months of illness. Born June 18 1942 in Grandy county Missouri she moved with her parents to Lexington the same year and remained a resident. She belonged to the First Baptist church and is survived by one sister Mrs C E Brubaker of Salt Lake City Utah. Funeral from the Baptist church at 1 oclock conducted by Rev Warren Clark.

Fire destroys Eagles building on Broad Way
A fire Tuesday morning swept through the north store room of the Eagles building on Broad Way, reaching Oscar Owen’s store. Water supply failed as plugs were frozen, delaying suppression. Flames spread to Crawford’s Lawn and garage, but firefighters saved that property. The Baglee tab room on the second floor and the Red Men lost their regalia while the corner stone dates to 1852.
