A harmonious mass meeting at the courthouse selected eighteen delegates for the county convention in Higginsville. Two camps supported Champ Clark and Joseph Folk, with 73 votes for Clark and 65 for Folk. The event, called by B C Drummond, lasted about thirty minutes.

Brother shoots brother during quarrel near mine
Sunday morning about nine o'clock during a family quarrel, Will Reniek shot and seriously wounded his brother, Earl, and then made his escape. The shooting occurred near the Independence mine, east of Napoleon, where the Renieks live. Miss Winifred Winn left Monday for Lincoln to visit her sister, Mrs. A. M. Bunting.

W C T U Institute Led by State President in Lexington
On February 9, the Woman's Christian Temperance Union of Lexington hosted State President Mrs Kate F Newton of Carthage for a full day institute. She spoke in the morning and at 2:20 pm outlined key W C T U principles while area groups and college associations reported their work. Local and visiting ladies contributed solos and several new members joined the roll. Out of town guests included Mrs Banebridge of Bates City and Mrs Landrum of Waverly amid broad support from attendees.

Death of Mrs Studdard Attributed To Arsenic Poisoning
Thursday morning Max and Sarah Studdard died at home on South Twelfth Street from arsenic poisoning. Mrs Studdard, 71, was born near Orrick Ray County. Survived by sons James W and Daniel Sinddand of Topeka Kansas and daughters Mrs T W Ladngs and Miss Dora of Lexington. Funeral today at 3:30 from the home with Rev S Boyd White officiating.

John E Corder Lafayette County figure dies in Excelsior Springs
John E. Corder a former well known citizen of Lafayette County died in Excelsior Springs last week at about seventy. He was an ex Confederate soldier and highly respected by all who knew him. He is survived by three children including Mrs J L Crosswhite of Grand Pass and he was an uncle of Mrs Nannie C Steele of this city.
