James R Anderson a longtime resident of Ubis county died Monday after a paralytic stroke. He arrived in Richmond Kentucky in 1855 and later settled near Higginsville. He is survived by a son William and daughter Migs vnle and a daughter Mrs Leslie Mason of Os ville. burial and full notice forthcoming.

A Norton house fire on Tuesday afternoon led to the deaths of Vernon aged 4 and Jesus, two children left locked inside by a mother who was away from home. The blaze began around 3 o clock, discovered by the aging father, with the eastern stallion nearby as a witness to the tragedy.

Judge Joseph G. Chinn received a Latrobe Daily Advance biographical sketch of Isaac George who died January 4 at age 82 in Pennsylvania. Born in Pennsylvania, he moved to Kentucky before enlisting in Doniphan's brigade and marching to Mexico. A carpenter, he built several houses including Charles Mitchell’s edge-of-town home. He later profited from coal land development, remained active in the Mexican Veterans Association, and published a Doniphan expedition history. He visited Lexington with his daughter Mrs Baldridge about four years ago.

In Lexington Gas and Electric Company invited about fifty citizens to view the new 250 horsepower engine and dynamo. Designers Hornberger and Irwin explained the machinery as incandescent lights ran first, then half the arc lights, and finally all lights. A second engine and dynamo like the present one will be installed. minor work remains. The city will gain steadier light, weekly trimming, and better economy with water cooling, condensed steam, and coal weighing to track daily consumption. The plant aims to be among Missouri’s finest of its size.
