Contest For Boys and Girls Clubs During Farmers Week
William E. Bandon volunteers in radio service as the College of Agriculture extends the County extension work. The 4H styled contest covers corn wheat oats sewing poultry eggs cattle horses mules beef and hog products for boys and girls ages ten and up enrolled in the club program. George W. Reavis reports Lafayette county led in prizes and the county is urged to boost enrollment in the coming year. Reverend and Mrs. Cobb celebrate their fiftieth wedding anniversary with family dinner highlighting long service in Lexington and Confederate Civil War history. William E Bandon and family travel to Kansas City where their son William F. E. Bandon is accepted into the Navy radio section after passing the age and medical checks. Preliminary training will begin at Great Lakes.

Wedding Unites Elmira Winn and Peyton Tabb in Kansas City Church

County Collector C L Wilson handed County Treasurer LH Noyes a check for 295986 40, the total collections to date. Of this amount 99198 57 lies for school purposes and 196787 88 for county expenses. Last year the check totaled 265916 60 with 93526 64 for school and 172589 96 for other county expenses.

Miss Mary Bettie Hays Fri day celebrated her 90th birthday at her East Main Street home. Born in 1828 in Barnesville Maryland she moved to Missouri at twenty one. She enjoys remarkable health for her age and keeps up daily tasks with vigor. Her brother Richard Hays, age 81, and she are the sole survivors of a family of eight children. Friends wish her many more happy birthdays.

Infant Woodrow Gentry Dies at Six Miles South of Lexington
Woodrow Gentry, infant son of Mr and Mrs Frank Gentry, died Wednesday at 10:00 AM six miles south of Lexington. Wilson his twin brother died Friday. Funeral for Woodrow was held yesterday afternoon. Wentworths second basketball team traveled to Odessa Friday night, returning with a 55 to 5 loss. Cadets say there were so many pretty girls on the sidelines they couldn’t see the baskets.

Robbery at Moorehead’s Lumber Yard Reported
A theft occurred Thursday night at Moorehead’s Lumber Yard between 5 30 and 10 pm. The offender broke a window on the east, entered the office, forced the cash drawer, and took about 40 cents in coppers. The latch was moved after a small hole was made in the upper sash. Mr Mevel discovered the robbery around 10 o clock.
