Death of a Child in Philadelphia Family
Two year old Marvin Scott died of diphtheria Sunday morning at eight o'clock at his parents home on East Franklin Street. The infant's illness was not pronounced diphtheria until eight hours before death. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at two o'clock.

Central Art Exhibit at Central College Draws a Crowd
A Monday afternoon art show at Central College impressed visitors with original, life inspired works. Senior students Lucile Herring Corrinne Baldwin Mary Van Tramp and Alta Wagner presented advanced pieces while younger pupils Moise Bright and Sarah Creecy showed promise. The exhibit featured hand molded glazed pottery hammered brass and copper designs and a striking title page design by Linda Crewdson.

Informal dance Tuesday night marked the first since October with enjoyable moments for attendees. Among the town ladies were Mrs Smith Miss Dooley of Butler Miss Penny of Fulton and Miss Afigs Spelrs of David Ofty Nebraska. Smiths orchestra provided the entertainment and was noted as one of the state’s best. Madge Nicholson returned from Kansas City that evening. John Bour and daughter Miss Kitlie spent the day in Kansas City. Rosefioor, previously at St. Margaret Memorial, has been there for months.

Frame Cottage Destroyed by Fire on Fifth Street
A two story seven room frame cottage owned by John Minard on Fifth Street was nearly destroyed by a fire that started in the second story. Fire response was delayed by rough roads and hoses had to be dragged about 100 feet. Firemen saved most furniture though the kitchen and several ground floor rooms suffered. Defective ties are blamed for the blaze.

Graham who died Sunday at his parents home after a prolonged illness stemming from measles, pneumonia, bronchitis, and diphtheria followed by uremic poisoning and paralysis. Lexington College Pupils Stage Two Plays At Open House
Lexington College Saturday night entertainment by the Lee Department of Exprosion featured two small plays and four readings. Champlin gave the standout performance in The Dumb Waiter while Lehr and Hopkins drew strong applause for readings from Booth Tarkington and Knives of Marjorie. The second play No Cure No Pay impressed with Webster Lehr Aber and Van Hoy. The program was well received and a brief open house followed.

Death by Own Action In McGrew Mines Area
John Martin a 27 year old machine operator at McGrew mines died by swallowing two ounces of carbolic acid at his Hoffmans pond home. He left no note, appeared in good spirits earlier, was unmarried, and is survived by his mother five brothers and two sisters. Funeral held Wednesday at 2 30 PM.
