Burglars Escape Jail Then Traced to Fort Worth Kansas City
Two youths Tom Delehanty 13 and Martin 14 escaped from county jail early Saturday. They fled via ceiling and garret, then left town planning to reach Galveston Texas. They had been jailed for July burglary of Inglis and Huber Jewelry in Higginsville. Arrests traced them to Kansas City and Fort Worth before being recaptured.

Fire destroys residence on East Main street
Fire in East Lexington totally destroyed the home of Wm. Hurd on East Main with the second floor ablaze when found by Mrs. Hurd. The department fought the blaze but could not save the building. Only a few household goods were saved. Insured losses totaled 800 on the home, 100 on the building and 200 on furniture. The incident featured the dramatic arrival of Fireman Jas. Slusher amid a long town column of visitors and residents in town on various business and social visits.
