Ernest W Hoffman Sr a long time Lexington resident died Tuesday at 1 50 pm at his home 1118 South street after months of failing health He was born in Barmstadt Germany March 5 1884 and came to America in 1853 He lived in Alleghany City and Birmingham Pa Pekin Ill Havana Ill before settling in Lexington where he started the Lexington Brewery He was married twice first to Jeanette Stockert with seven children including Carl Ernest W and Mrs C C Barron and two surviving brothers Carl Hoffman and J E Hoffman The funeral was conducted by Rev J C Bierbaum from the home yesterday at 3 30 pm

Word arrives of the death of Miss Roberta McDonald at the Mt Vernon Sanitarium in Missouri. She was the daughter of Mr and Mrs Pat McDonald of Kansas City and a frequent visitor to Lexington. She is survived by her parents three brothers and two sisters.

Shoplifting duo arrested after wagon load found
Steve McDonald and Florence Steemer colored were taken into custody Wednesday by city officers for wholesale shoplifting. A shack behind Southwest boulevard yielded a wagon load of merchandise. George Nasser filed the initial complaint. Goods were stolen from Donie Weber Hix Bros Veach and Connell Bankrupt Store George Nasser Co operative Store and L Weinstein. The pair operated a land office scam and some merchants were unaware until asked to identify items. Their preliminary hearing was waived and they were jailed awaiting the criminal court.

State versus Walter McFadin Gambing House Guilty Plea
Walter McFadin pled guilty to operating a gambling house and fined 200 dollars. Death of Rev L F Clemens Pioneer Cumberland preacher
Rev L F Clemens, a pioneer Cumberland Presbyterian preacher, died at his Marshall Missouri home at noon on Wednesday aged about ninety. His son Major A W Clemens of Wentworth Military Academy his wife and his little daughter Eugenia were present in Marshall at his death.
