Melrose Threshing Finished and Grain Grading
W D Easter, Melrose resident, visited the city to prove up on his homestead. He reported that his wheat threshing occurred before rain and was accepted as first class grain at the warehouse. Later crop grain in Melrose prairie is damp and likely to ship as second grade. Many farmers are proving up their claims and plan to attend the Lewiston fair if weather stays good. A crowd is arranging sleeping accommodations for the fair week.

County Superintendent Miss McCoy will visit country schools on the reservation and not return until Saturday. Musical Recital A Success at the Methodist Church
Misses Rhea Davis and Pearl Davis presented a recital to a large audience last night at the Methodist church. The young pianists received hearty applause and encores followed. A pantomime titled Eight Little Grandmas was performed by Willie Reese Julie Reese Ruth Benton Rosa Lee Edith Burke Fannie noch Noonie Conklin and Matilda Hanson from the junior league, adding to the program’s appeal. The church was well filled.

A New Sewer System for East Main Street
City engineers survey East Main Street to lay out levels for a new sewer extending from Ninth Avenue through Thompson addition to Main Street and connecting with the old lines at Seventh Street. Plans include branch lines near G and Idaho streets with two weeks of surveying and next month signatures for a petition. Estimated cost near 80 cents per foot, similar to Normal Hill, and Mayor Kress supports the project for public health.

Negro and White Boy Steal Pants from Store
Two young customers entered J. M. Fix on Main street and stole a pair of pants Wednesday evening. The pair, about 12 years old, included a Negro boy and a red headed white boy. The Negro distracted the clerk while the White boy fled with pants. The Negro wore the missing pants the next morning and was arrested by Officer Masters as James McKay. the White boy remains at large.

Rimrock Farms Prosperous As Fall Harvest Rolls In
Rimrock farmers harvested their grain in good shape and saved the entire crop. They add new outhouses to protect machinery, while John B. Kill raises an eight room cottage on the old Goldsmith homestead. George Clay expands his home and plans a five room cottage. Peter Konen builds a two story residence south of Union town with crews hauling rock and digging a large barn basement. Road Overseer Clay improved roads last spring, keeping them in excellent condition.

Clinton inspects NP track upgrades for terminal use
Mr. Clinton, general road master of the Northern Pacific, traveled to States on Wednesday to review the newly installed track for terminal purposes. The 20th marked the railroad’s monthly payday while a supply car arrived late due to switching at Potlatch junction. Foreman Watt has finished the freight house track and material for the new building will be moved in. Construction crews will begin work on the freight house in about a week, while crews continues on the water tank at Stites. A new round house will follow Lewiston improvements once materials are ready.
