Peck fair a great success in Lewiston exhibit

The Peck fair closed its three day run with strong attendance figures and a fruit and grain display that highlighted the county’s fertility. Kirby, Lewiston manager, praised the exhibit as the best shown and pledged Idaho’s display for St Louis next year. Also reported are horse thieves captured near Missoula, a jail escape thwarted by deputies, and preparations for the Interstate Fair with 90 top NW horses expected to race next week.

District Court hears contested case on porch removal

In Lewiston district court the case First National Bank vs R C Beach was argued with demurrer set. The lengthy proceedings concern removal of a porch at the Vollmer building and a consent dismissal in the Li neton Water Company vs the city case due to changes in municipal arrangements.

Nomination of Strong Man for Latah Sheriff Seat

The republicans of Latah county met in Moscow on Monday and nominated a new sheriff candidate to replace the resigning first nominee. A large, harmonious convention named Jesseater by acclamation, an elderly resident of the region, strengthening the party ticket. The event signals a solidly Republican county likely to yield usual majorities. Attorneys Heltman Sweet and Gone of Kootenai county, who had been attending the supreme court, returned home this morning.
