East Main Street Improvement Moves Forward in Lewiston

Lewiston City Council passed resolutions to gravel the east end of Main Street between the courthouse and Twentieth Street this summer, continuing winter work and charging costs to benefitted property owners. A June 25 meeting date was set for property owners to register concerns.

Lewiston plans two major county buildings and primaries

Nez Perce county commissioners review plans by architects Galbraith and Jones for remodelling the courthouse and a new jail with modern cells and fireproof vaults. A 35000 dollar school bond passes, and city primaries set for Saturday under new charter, with candidates listed for treasurer and council seats.

Lewiston School Board Picks McConkey and Johnson

In Lewiston independent district election Rev. J. D. McConkey and Attorney Miles Johnson were chosen as school directors. J. H. Rowly and John King served as judge and clerk. McConkey 119 votes, Johnson 71, Needham 49, election described as quiet.

Mox Mox Escapes During Transport to Island

Local report states Thomas Henry Mox Mox slipped free from handcuffs and jumped from a car while en route to McNeil's Island. The escape left authorities seeking the felon, with location of Mox unknown.

Judge Latleton Price of the fourth district rules Idaho peddler license laws illegal for non residents. From Cassia county, a Chicago firm rep for Laverme & Brown Co. ordered goods and faced a $50 fine plus costs totaling $81.55 or 41 days in jail after a Oakley jury verdict of guilty.

First of the Season Strawberries Reach Lewiston Valley

The Lewiston valley received the season’s first berries this afternoon from Clarkston. White Bros. sold them to the Blue Front where they retailed at 25 cents per box. The berries were of the H River variety.
