Churches unite for summer Sunday services in town
Beginning next Sunday the Presbyterian and Baptist churches will hold joint Sunday services in union until summer ends. Farmers in the Tammany section have hayed for two weeks and will begin cutting the barley next week. Despite the drought the barley is well filled with good acreage. The average barley yield is about 40 bushels. The past week favored wheat with light rains and cool weather aiding grain fill. The grain heads are plump though straw is short, and the crop will average about 2 bushels.
