Imnaha Steamer Ready for Commission to Pittsburg Landing

The Imnaha steamer built for Lewiston and Southern Navigation returned from a Riparia trial with high praise. Churches unite for summer Sunday services in town

Beginning next Sunday the Presbyterian and Baptist churches will hold joint Sunday services in union until summer ends. Rev Guernsey from the Baptist church will lead July and Rev Giboney from the Presbyterian church will preach in August. Morning services are at Odd Fellows hall and evening services at the Presbyterian church building.

Sash and Door Factory and Bank Project at Gifford

Carrier and Minion are building a sash and door factory at Gifford covering 2000 square feet of floor space for a paying enterprise. Lumber will be secured from saw mills on Craig mountain. The bank building in Gifford is near completion, a one story frame with a large fire proof vault. Farmers around Gifford haul in summer supplies while merchants stock up to serve mountain traders.

Fourth of July games loom in Nezperce clash

The Nezperce celebration committee offers a $100 prize with Miller or Thomas of the U of I expected to assist. Lapwai Rough Riders meet Lewiston in a marquee contest. Rough Riders beat Culdesac 16 to 8 in a Sunday practice. Team features McCormick Penny and Moore. Lewiston fields a strong squad with Rust as manager and adds Louis Bradbury. Brown may join from Grangeville after an earlier Pullman series injury.

Harvest in Tammany Next Week

Farmers in the Tammany section have hayed for two weeks and will begin cutting the barley next week. Despite the drought the barley is well filled with good acreage. The average barley yield is about 40 bushels. The past week favored wheat with light rains and cool weather aiding grain fill. The grain heads are plump though straw is short, and the crop will average about 2 bushels.

The Lewiston school board considers proposals for a new school building. Architects Dow and Galbraith presented plans for imposing school structures and Nave expects to submit plans soon. No decision has been reached yet.

President Black Arrives at Lewiston Normal Office

Prof. George H. Black, newly elected president, arrived from Cheney Sunday and opened headquarters in the presid ent's office. He begins organizing the faculty for the coming year with about 175 applicants from Harvard to California, selecting the best and contacting recommending school men. He will stay through the summer and move his family here when a house is found.
