Raid at Reservation Saloon Taken by Federal Agents

Federal agents arrested Martin and Vickery of Nezperce after a raid on a reservation saloon. They are held on $600 bonds each as victims report the press of alleged illegal activity.

Nez Perce raid nets liquor. two jailed on Lewiston warrants

Federal officers raided the Nez Perce soft drink house arresting proprietors Joseph Martin and Charles Vickery. They seized and destroyed gallons of liquor after warrants issued by Commissioner E O Neill. Deputies Foresman and Hindman drove from Peck to Nezperce, capturing the pair and delivering them to Lewiston. Both men were bound over to the October term for 600 dollars each, now jailed after failing to post bond. Additional items include harvest activity on Lewiston flat and Tammany hollow, a Kamiah wedding of E Johnson and Blanche Lawler, Pixley destruction case finalizing with 15 dollars fine, and a custody ruling over Mrs Haddock.

Land Rush At Lewiston Over Script Fights And Claims

A Lewiston land office rush opened filings for two white pine townships. Thirty five settlers held positions 75 hours, others joined from a train. Ponting and Thompson were attacked for being Turkish syndicate agents with script to seize land. About 2440 acres offered via script. 1000 acres accepted, filings refused on others lands. Cap tain Ernest McCullough and militia helped maintain order. A Lewiston armory building project by the Idaho National Guard will open July 9 with 60 by 50 foot drill hall and gun racks. Concerts and refreshments planned, tickets $1 couple, 50 cent admission.
