Weatherington’s Touselle wheat yields vast harvests

From a one pound French Touselle wheat seed planted in 1873, Supervisor Weatherington reports rapid growth: 73 pounds the first harvest, 2,400 pounds the next year, and 21 tons this season. The crop, sown on middling hill land, yielded 35 bushels per acre, with large white plump grain heavier per bushel than local wheat. Seed sold locally, with ample seed reserved for 100 acres, and some grain sent to Yolo Napa and Solano for seed.

Suicide during hunting near Eagle Creek in Clackamas County

From mail carrier Mr Price comes a fatal shooting near Eagle Creek where Jesse Bradley, about 28, shot himself while hunting with Lafay ette Ellsworth and Matthew Patterson. He died about two hours later after the ball severed a neck artery. Bradley leaves a wife and four children. He was known as an industrious farmer in the area.

Water purification guidance from old text
