Snowbound traveler and upcoming Red Men masquerade ball

Jno Gaffney of Pierce returned home after visiting relatives here noting heavy snow. In Pierce four feet on the level and eight feet in French Creek area. The local Red Men lodge plans a grand masquerade ball February 27 at the armory with members in Indian costumes and the venue secured for expected large attendance.

Lewiston Foundry Sold to J J Merrill in Move to Add Capacity

The Cooper foundry and machine shop on Main Street Lewiston was sold to J J Merrill of Chicago. Merrill, an experienced designer and engineer, will run the shop and plans to expand Lewiston manufacturing. Cooper retires from active work but stays on briefly to aid the transition as local industry eyes growth in timber and ore processing.

Radical Change Proposed for Idaho Constitution Amendment

Library bill in danger as Moscow leaders urge defeat

Coldest Day of the Season Reported in Local Forecast

Weather notes place today as the coldest day of the season with 16 above zero on February 6 the record. Morning temperatures reach 18 above while forecasts suggest the chill may persist a day or two. Montana and Idaho report 12 to below zero with other areas even colder as a new weather map system debuts in Lewiston.

Grain Production at Camas Prairie Near Kooskia

M C Adams, agent for Vollmer Clearwater at Kooskia, reports 1902 grain shipments: 33,700 bushels wheat, 42,300 oats, 42,300 flax? 14,000 barley totaling about 88,700 bushels with an estimated value of 60,60. The note cites Kooskia Kamiah and Stites as sources, highlighting wheat as the main crop and vast untapped potential of the region.
