Farmers Institute Set In Lemmon For Late September
On September 28 and 29 a Farmers Institute will meet in Lemmon under A. E. Chamberlain of the South Dakota Agricultural College. Three sessions are planned at 1 30 on the 28th and at 10 30 and 1 30 on the 29th with a possible evening session the 28th. All interested in local agriculture are invited to attend.

Cowardly Deed in McIntosh South Dakota
An African American man named Arthur Thornton of Valley Springs, Alabama, was assaulted by railroad policeman Ed Mathis in McIntosh, SD. Mathis shot Thornton in the back after forcing him to dance and later left him lying by the track before transport to a tent where a doctor said the case was hopeless. The incident ignites accusations of brutality and calls for arrest and punishment.
