Crushed Under Load Near Meadow Injures Polander Worker

Adam Bortko a Polish homesteader carrying lumber and lime for Back Lumber Yard at Meadow was seriously injured when his wagon capsized near Plat Creek twelve miles south. The load fell on him, he sustained a fractured hip, a deep wound, and leg contusions. He was treated at Rev Williams farm then moved to town and is slowly recovering with wife and child at Meadow.

Octogenarian Samuel Peery Dies After 81 Quiet Years

An 80s era obituary notes the death of octogenarian Sammel Peery at his daughter’s home ten miles south, with services to Rock Rapids Iowa. Notaries Organize to Handle Standing Rock Registration Draw

Sixteen city notaries formed an organization early in the week to register applicants for the Standing Rock and Cheyenne River Reservation drawing. They elected officers, set policies, and rented the easternmost store on Sonil street for 100 dollars as a workroom. The large space will host three eight hour shifts to serve visitors from the south door and exit via the rear. Each registration costs a small fee, and the plan anticipates high turnout requiring orderly management.

Prize Competition As Lemman Club Seeks Exhibits

The Lemmon Creamercial Club requests assistance from farmers in Perkins and eastern Adams counties to assemble prize corn exhibits for the Mitchell Corn Palace. Exhibits will be displayed on C M & P rail cars and in a home pavilion under construction. Prizes will be awarded. locals urged to prepare for thousands visiting next month and to help with feeding and shelter.
