The organization reports end of month funds totaling 282 with 995 in the general fund. Monthly receipts reach 819 mainly from taxes. Debt stands at million dollars with 190000 in general fund warrants and 100000 borrowed from the Twine Plant fund. April tax receipts expected to wipe out revenue warrants and reduce overall debt by more than half.
The North Lemmon Township vote totals show Roy Dillman and Carl Keehn elected to key posts with pluralities. Voters approved levies of 600 for road and bridge and 300 for general funds and set road boss pay at two dollars daily, designating the schoolhouse as the next annual meeting site.
The S I Traveling Men's association executive committee met to finalize plans for the convention. Geo E Lemmon named parade manager. B H Borreson in charge of baseball. C I Cluts to handle bands. Elmer H Halling named marshal. L E Robinson heads advertising. $300 prizes for displays and floats. Women's and visiting ladies receive reception support, lodging appeals issued to residents via T C Ramslund.
Earl Morton, age about 29 and co proprietor of the Petre saloon, died suddenly at his place of business after a brief collapse. A coroner's jury in Lemmon found death from natural causes due to heart illness. Morton leaves a wife in Aberdeen. his child had died recently. his father, a former South Dakota legislator, will oversee burial.
Berry and Donovan moved to a new location opposite the post office, adjoining the former Berry shop and near Krajicek the tailor. Attorney L. P. McNulty has moved into Berry and Donovan’s vacated quarters on 2nd Avenue.
A liquor fueled quarrel in Dupree led to a brutal confrontation between Babe LaPlante a rancher and a stranger. LaPlante knocked him down then spared him after a handshake but the stranger attacked from behind and delivered fatal blows. The injured man died en route to Aberdeen hospital shortly before the Mobridge train arrived.
