Old Settlers Picnic Planned at Stowers Groves

The Eastern Adams county Old Settlers association prepares for a June 22 picnic and reunion in the Stowers Groves with games races music speeches a dance and free admission. Odd Fellows and Rebekahs held a memorial service sung by a male quartet and Miss Zoe Beagle visits local residents studying in Minneapolis.

Farmers Organize at Lemmon to Push Cooperative Elevators

Farmers in Lemmon gather at the opera house as C C Drayton, president of the Farmers Equity Union, outlines plans to form fifteen to twenty new elevator companies in South Dakota. He warns farmers lose money on large crops due to middlemen and railroads, and urges a national union and educated, cooperative farming. All present join the Lemmon Local Union. Drayton to speak again June 30 at 2:00 PM, lecturing on price guarantees, Canadian reciprocity, handling of the poor, surplus, and loyalty to cooperative effort.

Lemmon Wins Dakota Mutual Branch Deal

Dakota Mutual Life Insurance plans a Lemmon branch after a meeting with C O Bachselter and Dan W Bannister securing a seventy five thousand dollar business pledge. The project aims to recruit six to ten staff, with Dan W Bannister in charge, boosting local jobs and keeping insurance money in the state.

Weddings Highlight June in Lemmon Area

June weddings draw attention in Lemmon as Miss Vina Erbe wed Mr. Howard Reeve in Java South Dakota with only close relatives. After a brief wedding trip through Aberdeen Milbank and Lake Traverse the couple plans a reception at Lemmon. Also, Monday saw the marriage of Mr. Mark Grahek to Miss Minnie Constance Weatley at the Grose residence officiated by Rev. Father John Frei. The groom manages the Bel Grand at Morristown and has long been known to locals.
