Franz Brems born in Germany served in the German army and the French and German War. He joined the Latter Day Saints in 1848 and moved to Utah with his wife and five sons. He later married Betty Rive, had five more children, served a mission to Germany, faced imprisonment for his faith, and died in Utah.
