City Council Proceedings and Public Works Actions

The council held a regular session led by Mayor Well. Items included corrected deeds for Albert Bushman and David Lawce, a proposed north drainage ditch, a foot bridge request, dog tax remittance denial, a bridge north of Geo. Glover, and hiring extra police for Sego Lily and Lehi Junction districts. The old liberty pole to be rebuilt, street tree rules enforced with permissions, and assorted street maintenance and supplies paid. Marshal J D Woodhouse resigned. Robert Taylor appointed to fill the vacancy. A March 26 meeting set to consider pavilion lease.

Franz Brewis Shoemaker of Lehi Junction Dies

Tuesday afternoon at 4 Franz Brewis died at his residence in Lehi Junction. A longtime Lehi resident known as the Shoemaker to many locals. The funeral will be held the afternoon at the Third Ward meeting house.

Snowstorm Drops Ten Inches of Snow Across Region

The heaviest snow storm of the winter hit Sunday evening into Monday causing electric, telephone, and telegraph disruptions. Numerous trees snapped under heavy loads as about ten inches of snow accumulated in the area.

Change of Management at Bell Telephone Local Office

On Monday Fred D. Worlton assumed management of the Bell Telephone Co. The previous manager TL J. Worl[s]sworth conducted the operation for a year and built up patronage for the company. Worlton studied the telephone business in Salt Lake City during a period of preparation.

A. J. Anderson Returns From Mission

A. J. Anderson returns from a mission to Sweden where he served in the Skone Conferences Kalman and Tholmstead labs for 12 months and later at Yatad and Iltenburg Skoffle branches. He reports good health, strong local support, and opposition from priests. He visited his brother studying at Columbia University after arriving home March 4.

Parents Meeting At Central School Hears Tax Debate

A large audience attended a Wednesday evening parents meeting at Central School House. Prof J L Brown spoke on the advantages of a strenuous life. The taxing question, raising the county levy versus lowering district tax, was raised and trustees were urged to vote for the former.

Dr. Steele to Move from Lehi to Salt Lake City

Dr. R. E. Steele and Dr. Robert F. Steele, who resided in Lehi since 1896, will relocate to Salt Lake City on April 1. For ten years they have provided medical services and earned the goodwill of local residents. The Steeles will be missed for their professional care and valued community presence.

Old Maid's Convention to Raise Funds for New Organ

The 2nd Ward Relief Society hosts an Old Maid's Convention next Saturday March 16 at the 2nd Ward Assembly rooms. Matinee at Yo pom with low prices and an evening program. proceeds fund a new organ for the society.

Madam Butterfly comes to Salt Lake Theatre in two nights

Taevini's Japanese grand opera Madam Butterly arrives in Salt Lake City for two performances starting Tuesday March 18. The production features Ela Szamosy Reta Vivienne Florence Easton and a sixty member orchestra conducted by Walter Rothwell with European prima donnas and varied casting.
