Children Day Jubilee Festivities Set With Parasol Parade
Next Thursday marks Children Day with Jubilee events expected to attract participants from most of the state. Bus fare is 50 cents round trip for ages 12 to 18. teachers will chaperone to ensure safety and enjoyment. Girls wear white and carry Japanese parasols. boys wear white waists and carry flags. bouquets for all. Parasols may be bought for 10 cents each. Utah County schools gather at the street corner opposite the temple at 1040 am. After the parade, a program at the Tabernacle completes the day.

Death of Mrs Phillips in Lehi
Mrs Martha Phillipe died after a long illness, having lived a life of usefulness in Lehi. She aided early settlement work, served in the Relief Society as a teacher, and was remembered for kindness. Funeral services Saturday were led by Councilor Anderson with Elders Ball Yates Southwick Evans and Anderson speaking of her contributions.

Pecos Valley Beets Show Varied Growth Across Valley
The beet crop in Pecos Valley progresses in several stages with some fields laid by while others are irrigated thinned or replanted. Overall stands are satisfactory though planting was delayed. An experimental plot for seed by the sugar company matured well and harvested seed will be analyzed for Sathharine content to aid future seed production.

Sugar Factory Starts Run To Produce Record Beet Crop
The sugar factory began operations this morning with 489 workers. It will process the largest beet crop in its history, running about 160 days to refine into sugar. Production is estimated at over 110 tons and will yield 34 million pounds of standard granulated sugar, compared with last year’s 22,000 900 pounds.
