Beets to Sugar Harvest Moves Across Regions

The week’s sugar campaign shows light harvest in China and heavy harvest in Anaheim with beet blockades on cars and in the barns. Heat worsens wilt and decay as harvest slows to clear lines, delaying deliveries. Anaheim halted on Wednesday and few beets reached markets in days. Three Men Arrested for McCannon Express Robbery

The three suspects Angus Monroe Otee Kendall and Charles Oliver Hogan faced a preliminary hearing after being identified by William Matthews the tourist who saw the express office door broken at McCannon. They claimed to come from Butte Montana and headed toward Meruer Utah with plans to lease mining property. Kendall said his home is Lehi Utah while Monroe spoke of a brother in Utah. All denied involvement despite Matthews identification. The Tribune notes new machinery for the job department improving the shop’s printing capabilities.

Beet Sugar Items From Norfolk Area Harvest Prospects

News from Norfolk reports J W Wolfe the new factory chemist arrives in Lehion. Farmers in Washington study the beet business and plan to move sugar there. Beets ripen earlier due to hot dry weather with harvests around September 15. Factory aims to start machinery by then and handle larger yields up to about ten tons per acre across 500 acres.
