Collision That Might Have Been Worse
Dr. W. M. McCoy of Wenatchee describes a Sunday auto crash ten days earlier in which a peach box struck him and left him unconscious for over twelve hours. His rear seat companion Lew Bowman was badly bruised, and the peach box nearly scalped him. the chauffeur Jane Courtnay escaped injury. Mrs. and Mrs. Gillette suffered minor bruises after being hurled thirty feet. The doctor estimates damage around 500 dollars for car repairs and wagon loss. He notes he will drive slower unless life is at stake.

At the city council meeting the bids on the water system were opened last Thursday and Seaman & Quigg were awarded the contract for 39500 the lowest bid. The contractors may take city bonds for a premium and a bond sale committee was appointed. Streets improvements and utility issues were approved and a hitching rack site study continued. The city attorney will notify Tumwater Light & Water Co of damages to paving from mains. City Engineer Cook will occupy an office in Front street building formerly Fox's.

Scenic Theater to Feature Hawaiian Music and German Comedy

Death Claims Two Leavenworth Residents
Mrs. Nolan 36 died after a two year tuberculosis illness. Her six year old son drowned previously in Dryden. She leaves four children and burial plans are in Burke Washington near Quincy. Mrs. McGivern 32 died after typhoid relapse with two children in Minnesota. funeral today and burial in Red Wing beside her mother.

Death of Mrs P G McGregor
Obituary note on Mrs P G McGregor once of the local family long resident here. She developed tuberculosis before moving to Seattle and died in Tucson Arizona on September 11. Her body was returned from San Francisco to Seattle for cremation.

Southside Road Nears Completion by Local Contractor
A. E. Weiland of Columbia Engineering Co reports the south side road work near finish in about a month. Crushed rock covers two and a half miles, with one and a half miles left. When finished, the short link to Peshastin will be among the nation’s best and will boost summer auto traffic through the city. The road, advocated five years ago as a shorter water line grade route, should draw upper valley residents to town for markets and trade instead of Cashmere.

Engineer Bowden Sets Course for England Visit
Engineer Bowden of the Cascade division leaves for New York to sail March 28 aboard the Philadelphia and visit his childhood haunts in England for six months. He plans to return around March 1, 1913, and may have saved enough to retire but intends to continue railroading. His England address will be Great Bryan Roache Cornwall, and he has spent nine years in the United States pursuing engineering work.
