County Assessor Osborn claims Chelan county taxes fruit trees illegally, saying exempt trees violate the law though the state tax board calls the law unconstitutional. He insists the board must obey the present statute, not its constitutionality, and expects the dispute to go to court after years of fighting the commission. The board previously valued orchard land as raw land, excluding fruit trees from valuation.
