Joyce Schmidt daughter of Mr and Mrs William Schmidt became the bride of Marvin Langel son of Mr and Mrs Leo Langel of Le Mars in a quiet ceremony at St Josephs rectory on Thursday May 10. J C D Pisch performed the double ring ceremony before immediate families. The bride wore a blue suit with white accessories and a rose corsage. Attending were Miss LaDonna Schmidt sister of the bride and Leonard Langel. The bridesmaid wore a gray suit with white accessories and a shoulder arrangement of roses. The bride attended Central High School, the groom St Josephs High School, and the bride has been employed at the Dairy Queen in Le Mars. After a week’s honeymoon spent in the Black Hills they will reside in Le Mars. The groom works on the farm with his brother Agnes Landreth attended the fall board meeting of the BPW in Des Moines last weekend.

Family of John Deegan Recovers After Illness Week
Mrs Mayme Groethen reported a hectic week for the Deegan family. John Deegan had chest pains and was treated at Sacred Heart hospital with a very slight heart attack. Seven of eight children fell ill with polio like symptoms, Diane 13 suffered the worst pain and trouble swallowing, she was observed at St Josephs hospital and has since returned home. The doctors did not diagnose polio and the rest of the children are recovering.

Funeral services for Cornelia Justi 76 died Thursday at her home west of Pierson were held Saturday at the Methodist church. Burial followed in Kingsley Cemetery under the direction of Dickivon funeral home. Born April 28 1877 in Jackson County Iowa she is survived by four brothers Lawrence and Joseph of Kingsley Fred of Sioux City Julius of Cherokee and a sister Mrs Jutta Bleasdell of Kingsley.

Sioux Center Feed Salesman Killed in Crash
Albert Scheffer, about 63, a Sioux Center feed salesman, was killed in a two vehicle collision seven miles southwest of Sioux Center Friday afternoon. Dr. William Doornink said Scheffer died of a broken neck. he was eastbound and Mrs. Ted Smith of Maurice, Iowa, southbound. Mrs. Smith was uninjured. Sheriff Hany Dykstra investigated. Survivors include widow Lena and three daughters, and a son Cornelius. Body to Vander Ploeg funeral home. Also notes Camp Gordon sailor John Plendl on 12 day leave.

Funeral services were held for Martin M. Kier at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Methodist Church in Hawarden. Kier, born February 2, 1882 in Viborg, died Thursday at his home after a long illness. He moved to Hawarden in 1945 and ran a plumbing shop before retirement. He married Ruth Busen of Alcester, SD, on April 7, 1918. Mary Mouw, two year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Marion Mouw of near Orange City, suffered a flesh wound to the left calf when a .22 rifle fired while she and her brother Kenny loaded a file on the back porch. The bullet came close to the bone and arterial damage. She was released from Grossmann hospital after investigation confirmed only a flesh wound.

Accidents occurred Sunday and Friday near Le Mars resulting in property damage. A 1947 Plymouth sustained 100 damage after a single car crash on a county road two miles south of Le Mars when the driver fell asleep. Another collision on highway 73 south of Le Mars caused 3500 damage to a vehicle after leaving a parking area. A 946 Chevrolet headed north collided with a 1947 Hudson on Ind Street, with details incomplete.
